The ability of one person to absorb the influence of others and the spirit of their surroundings. This concept lies at the heart of the refined talents of Patrick Duvoisin a.k.a Rollercone. His debut album also features the current single, "When You Left" (featuring a David Duriez remix ) and is the culmination of Rollercones many musical passions (house, jazz, ambient, soundtracks). From the sultry J'Avance and 'Detends-Toi' (a track that ripples with seductive attitude) to the funkiness of ‘Daydreaming’ and on thru the deeper, jazz influenced ‘Quiet Storm’, Rollercone has produced an album that will touch you on many levels. From the unashamed optimism of ‘Joy’ whilst the Gospel-tinged ‘MyLife’ has hands-in-the-air anthem written all over it "With this album I was trying to achieve so much at the same time but mainly I wanted it to be a sum of my influencesî explains Patrick.î Music with the soul of the British but with a New York edge and a touch of European sensibility’. As a producer he is one of the unsung heroes of European club culture learning his trade in the hedonism of early ë90's Italy with work with Kid Batchelorís Bang The Party and Riveria Traxx through to The Shamen, Robert Owens and S-Express and rapper Jimmy Jay. Prior to his own solo releases he produced the Galaktic Sound Lab collective and their club night at the Blue Note in 1998. In the last two years he has produced singles for Nuphonic to Good Looking, as well as remixes for European labels such as Yellow, Laws of Motion, Compost and Other. Out this Spring/Summer are mixes for Glasgow Underground, Nuphonic and F. Communcations. As a DJ Rollercone has two London residencies (Small City at Dust and Suburb at Cargo) where he fuses a mixture of futuristic sensual house beats with a suitably soulful attitude. 2001 has seen the Rollercone sound go live, with a full live band including the super sweet vocals of Jakob Eggay, making their debut at John Malkovichís Lux club in Lisbon. Further live shows are currently in preparation for the summer including Sonar in Spain. --www.icrunch.co.uk _____________________________________________________________________________ shoutouts to the groups that love the music they promote ... sweetbeats, klangwerk, iMPG, Mindscape, sour, groove _____________________________________________________________________________ If you're down with the deep house music, music with feeling ... music that makes you groove no matter where you are ... and you think you can add to this feeling ... then visit #dh on efnet. keep the feeling. dh 2001 |
