We had visited a community centre, occupied and self-administrated, named "La Strada", as we wished to listen to a musical group called " Tribu Acustica". On that evening, very few people in the audience were present, but the intensity of the concert was great, and the opening motif suited us perfectly for the tune we wanted to be sung by Johnny Clarke at a dance hall of our "Satta Sound". The title of the piece was: "Time Will Tell". The proposal to make a recording of it excited the "Tribu" group, and a few days later they came to record at the Mellon Studio, where other two people joined the project, as "dub masters" on the mixer. They (Claudio Rovagna and Rossella Postorino) and Satta crew created a sound that was new and special, coordinating the whole artistic work of the studio, with the added input of a piano and chorus. After listening to the results Johnny Clarke accepted to add his voice to this musical base. When later with the Satta Massa Gana hi-fi, we hosted Max Romeo, we did not limit ourselves to record one single piece, but we set to work one whole album, and the final result is the CD you are holding in your hands. An experiment, if you wish, certainly an enterprise of courage and love, in the course of which various people have met and fused their creativity, and where Niyahbingi motifs like "Rastafari Calling" co-exist with roots like "One Step Forward", "It Sipple Out Deh" (War In a Babylon) and "Time Will Tell-No Woman No Cry", along with others of the caraibic and afro-american tradition such as "Study War No More" and "Mama Look A Boo-Boo". This record does not merely offer a pure style of the "Tribu" nor that of Max Romeo, and neither any other, but it's a point of conjunction, a new style; this was what we call "Rebel Sound !". The recordings took place during Yugoslavia war in 1999, and for this reason many themes concern the war, and a theme such as "Sipple out Deh" becomes, magically, "Give Peace a Chance". For this reason the album "In This Time" is dedicated to all the victims of the last of a long series of dirty wars ! Satta Massa Gana (give thanks) to the most high God, Jah Rastafari."
